Links to Volley Girls

In 2004, Julie Roscoe launched the Volley Girls instruction program for girls 12 and under, answering a need in the community for a program to learn volleyball. Through involvement in club volleyball, Julie met Jacquie Wilson who became enthused about launching a complimentary Volley Girls house-league program to give more girls a chance to play volleyball outside of school or club programs. The two friends became business partners and their Volley Girls' programs grew to become recognized by the OVA and within the Burlington community.

With the popularity of the programs came a need to find more qualified coaches. Fortunately Felicity Tyson, a former national volleyball team member, and local Burlington resident, answered the call for coaches and jumped on board to help with Volley Girls. The three women shared a passion for playing and coaching the game. Julie played both club and college volleyball, Jacquie played in college and was involved  in women's leagues, and Felicity played at McMaster and was a 4-time member of the national women's team. They combined their love of the game and their business skills (from their "real" jobs) to introduce a new OVA club called the Halton Region Volleyball Club (HRVC).

The Hurricanes - 2005 to 2011

Right from the start, HRVC has proved to be a real contender in the OVA. Each year the club has seen more girls attend try-outs and the caliber of athletes, coaches and teams are combining to make the HRVC club a volleyball force in Ontario.

With the enthusiastic support of our members and volunteers, we strive each year to improve and provide even more opportunities for athletes in the Halton region.
